The Story Behind the Wood: Maple Burl

Maple burl is prized by woodturners for its extraordinary grain patterns. Unlike straight-grained lumber, burl wood often features swirling figure, small knots, and eye-shaped formations.

What makes this maple burl special?

• Distinctive burl figuring: Natural swirls and burl eyes give each pen its own character.
• Custom-dyed appearance: Smoky blue-gray coloring complements the natural brown figuring.
• Stabilized wood: Resin stabilization helps improve the wood’s stability and workability.
• Handcrafted construction: Each wooden section is individually turned, shaped, and finished.
